I had a lovely time at my book launch, which was hosted by the Co-op Book Shop at the University of Western Australia on the evening of Tuesday 31 May 2012.
The wonderful Liz Byrski made a generous and kind speech, which made some excellent points about the role of popular fiction in Australia. Both she and I hold firm views that popular fiction is a worthy genre and should not be treated as less than ‘literary’ fiction in this country.
Then it was my turn. I thanked everyone I could think of – and there were many. Apparently I appeared less nervous than I felt. I hereby launch the good book A Stranger in my Street. My God bless all who read her…
It was a grand evening, and a good way to launch my baby onto the world.
